Why watch this film?
Doctor Larry Nassar was a sort of celebrity in the sports world until shortly after the Rio Olympics. Though he was discreet and quiet, he was responsible for the United States' "golden team" in artistic gymnastics. However, now Nassar is known for another reason: the abuses he committed against the girls, almost all minors, while claiming to be doing medical treatments. In this documentary by the duo Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk (of the provocative 'Audrie & Daisy'), the audience is invited to learn more about this story full of abuse, power use and people covering up. It's not as complete and deep as the series 'At the Heart of Gold' - Nassar's trial, for example, passes quickly here and is never really explored. However, for those who want to know the story in a faster production and as well produced as it is, it's a good choice. After all, crimes of the past need to be known to avoid repetition in the future.
