Why watch this film?
This is Jim Jarmusch's ninth movie ("Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai"), by then already established as one of the most distinct and important voices in American independent cinema. It is also Bill Murray's second collaboration with the director, on his way to consolidating his career as a dramatic actor after films such as "Lost in Translation" and "The Royal Tenenbaums". With Jarmusch's peculiar style of humor and minimalism, "Broken Flowers" is a bittersweet road movie about an ordinary man who is overtaken by his past, and must reconcile its consequences with the apparent emptiness of his mundane existence. It may be too commonplace a story for those unfamiliar with the director's filmography, but Murray is fascinating as the veteran Don Juan, accompanied by an all-star female cast that includes Julie Delpy ("Before Sunrise"), Sharon Stone ("Casino"), Jessica Lange ("All That Jazz"), Tilda Swinton ("The Thief of Orchids"), Frances Conroy ("The Aviator") and Chloë Sevigny ("Melinda and Melinda").

Plot summary

Only Lovers Left Alive
A story of love that spans centuries, starring Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton who are, in themselves, reason enough to watch this movie. Directed by Jim Jarmusch ('Paterson'), we are introduced to the vampire world in modern times and how their dynamics work in a technological world. While Hiddleston's character stays true to old habits, Swinton is more modern. The production is quite eccentric, a mix of acid humor with relationship dilemmas. Winner of the Special Jury Prize at the Sitges Film Festival, 'Only Lovers Left Alive' brings excellent cultural references, with intelligent touches of irony.
The Dead Don't Die
Cinema of zombies is undergoing a transformation. On one side, some directors bring increasingly powerful meanings to the figure of the undead, such as 'Zombi Child' by Bertrand Bonello or 'A Noite Devorou o Mundo' by Dominique Rocher. Others, meanwhile, bet on jokes or wild action, like 'Zombieland' and 'World War Z'. The new 'The Dead Don't Die', a film nominated for the Cannes Palme d'Or and directed by indie director Jim Jarmusch ('Paterson'), falls in between. After all, while making absurd jokes with its star-studded cast (Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Steve Buscemi), it also plays with modern evils and technological dependencies. It was divided among critics, receiving a loud boo at the Cannes screening. But those who embark on the proposal can find a zombie movie that completely breaks away from standards.
