Why watch this film?

Jean-Luc Godard is one of the most important, fascinating and peculiar figures of the cinema. A member of the Nouvelle Vague movement ("New Wave" in Portuguese), the filmmaker became popular with his lighter films, but he engaged in politics at the end of the 1960s and changed his outlook on cinema and the world. In this movie, Michel Hazanavicius (Oscar winner for 'The Artist') revisits this transition moment of the old guard director. One of the merits of the feature - but which was not well seen by the critics, mainly the American ones - was to try to humanize Godard, adding humor and using his relationship with actress Anne Wiazemsky as a basis. 'The Fabulous' has appeal for both cinephiles and those who want to start learning a little more about Jean-Luc and French cinema, or even just have fun with a dramedy.
