Why watch this film?
The strength of the movie lies in the performance of Catherine Deneuve, an icon of French cinema. Watching 'Ela Vai' is, more than anything else, a tribute to the actress's work, as well as a story that inevitably touches the older audience. The story is starring Bettie, a woman already in her 60s who goes through financial and romantic difficulties but decides to hit the road to overcome it all. The direction is by Emmanuelle Bercot, who has accumulated good works in front and behind the cameras - it is hers, for example, '150 Milligrams'.

Plot summary
Now in her early sixties, former beauty queen Bettie finds herself jilted by her lover and left alone to deal with the financial problems facing her family’s restaurant. What begins as a quick drive to clear her head turns into a full-fledged road trip. Along the way there are chance meetings, an ex-Miss France gala, renewed ties with her estranged daughter and grandson, and possibly, at the end of the road, love.

In Kidnapped (Rapito), Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio delves into one of the murkiest and most controversial episodes in the history of the Catholic Church, the "Mortara case". In 1851, when Jewish boy Edgardo Mortara becomes gravely ill, his Catholic nanny decides to baptize him in an emergency. However, papal law dictates that all Catholics must be raised as such, so the cardinal orders the boy to be taken and handed over to the church, against his parents' wishes, who decide to fight for him.
