Why watch this film?
Smart jokes, deconstructing stereotypes, and a great cast. 'Dope' has an up to date debate, even though the movie is set in the 90s, and it really suits the Brazilian context, even if it takes place in the US. Racism is treated in different ways without falling into banality. It's an engaging and important story that can be caricatured at times but doesn't fall into the didacticism that usually surrounds this subject.
