Why watch this film?
'Good Time' recalls American cinema from the 1970s, with anti-heroes struggling against the system without success. Even the poster brings this reminder. The protagonist, Robert Pattinson, was a great hit by directors Benny and Josh Safdie. It is not a movie that pleases all audiences, but those who like a good drama, with a touch of action, will find a great entertainment.

After the surprising 'Good Behavior', directors Josh and Benny Safdie (better known as the Safdie Brothers) consolidate themselves as a pair of great voices in American independent cinema with 'Uncut Gems', one of the best films of the 2019-2020 season. This is a typical story about pure and hard capitalist ambition, with all its dangers. Although it does not innovate, it is exciting for its frantic rhythm and tension. And if there were to be one reason to watch this movie, it would be the spectacular (and snubbed by Hollywood awards) performance of Adam Sandler, who proves that he is a brutal dramatic actor when he has the right script in hand.

Kidnapped
In Kidnapped (Rapito), Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio delves into one of the murkiest and most controversial episodes in the history of the Catholic Church, the "Mortara case". In 1851, when Jewish boy Edgardo Mortara becomes gravely ill, his Catholic nanny decides to baptize him in an emergency. However, papal law dictates that all Catholics must be raised as such, so the cardinal orders the boy to be taken and handed over to the church, against his parents' wishes, who decide to fight for him. The film recounts a controversial case that captured the attention of the rest of Europe and America, and skillfully portrays the clash of interests between the waning power of the church, Mortara's parents, and public opinion, with irreversible consequences for all involved.

'Green Border' - In the treacherous and swampy forests that make up the so called “green border” between Belarus and Poland, refugees from the Middle East and Africa trying to reach the European Union are trapped in a geopolitical crisis cynically engineered by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko.
