Why watch this film?

This is one of the most surprising movies from the Star Trek saga: the crew of the Enterprise, aboard a Klingon Bird of Prey, travels to 1980s San Francisco to rescue a humpback whale and save the future. An ecological and fun adventure, considered by many fans as one of the best (if not the best) movie of the franchise. A movie that can be watched alone or right after Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, working as a perfect trilogy.

Plot summary

It's the 23rd century, and a mysterious alien power is threatening Earth by evaporating the oceans and destroying the atmosphere. In a frantic attempt to save mankind, Kirk and his crew must time travel back to 1986 San Francisco where they find a world of punk, pizza and exact-change buses that are as alien as anything they've ever encountered in the far reaches of the galaxy.
