A heavyweight cast in a big Terrence Malick movie, based off the book of the same name written by James Jones. The result is a real punch in the face, showing us the horrors of the Pacific front of World War II and, from a small scenario, making the names of the soldiers fighting the conflict gain stories, fears, dreams and desires. Malick's philosophical approach gains even deeper scope with the great soundtrack signed by Hans Zimmer, considered until today one of the greatest in cinema history - and recycled or reused in various productions that came after.

Plot summary
Based on the graphic novel by James Jones, The Thin Red Line tells the story of a group of men, an Army Rifle company called C-for-Charlie, who change, suffer, and ultimately make essential discoveries about themselves during the fierce World War II battle of Guadalcanal. It follows their journey, from the surprise of an unopposed landing, through the bloody and exhausting battles that follow, to the ultimate departure of those who survived. A powerful frontline cast - including Sean Penn, Nick Nolte, Woody Harrelson and George Clooney - explodes into action in this hauntingly realistic view of military and moral chaos in the Pacific during World War II.

Over the last few years, filmmaker Terrence Malick has established himself as one of the most active voices in contemplative cinema. Films like 'The Tree of Life' and 'To the Wonder' have helped to solidify the director with philosophical, slow-paced plots and stunning cinematography--that kind of cinema that is not just to watch, but to feel. Now, in 'A Hidden Life', Malick returns to using more concrete plots and slightly more elaborate narratives. Here, in this case, of a man (August Diehl) who does not want to fight in World War II, contradicting his village. With powerful performances and photography that follows the poetry of his most contemplative films, 'A Hidden Life' surprises with its powerful message between the lines and connected to current debates about fascism. However, a warning is in order: despite having a more exposed narrative, the film continues with Malick's same style. It's slow, poetic and still contemplative. If you didn't like the director's other works previously mentioned, it's best to stay away.

Kidnapped
In Kidnapped (Rapito), Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio delves into one of the murkiest and most controversial episodes in the history of the Catholic Church, the "Mortara case". In 1851, when Jewish boy Edgardo Mortara becomes gravely ill, his Catholic nanny decides to baptize him in an emergency. However, papal law dictates that all Catholics must be raised as such, so the cardinal orders the boy to be taken and handed over to the church, against his parents' wishes, who decide to fight for him. The film recounts a controversial case that captured the attention of the rest of Europe and America, and skillfully portrays the clash of interests between the waning power of the church, Mortara's parents, and public opinion, with irreversible consequences for all involved.
Green Border
'Green Border' - In the treacherous and swampy forests that make up the so called “green border” between Belarus and Poland, refugees from the Middle East and Africa trying to reach the European Union are trapped in a geopolitical crisis cynically engineered by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko.
