Why watch this film?
This is an ambitious movie, which goes beyond the usual of Mexican cinema, including strong aesthetic influences from filmmakers like Stanley Kubrick and David Lynch. Ironically and disturbingly, the feature film won the award for Best Screenplay at Sundance, in addition to the protagonists being awarded at the Ariel and the Guadalajara Festival, two important festivals of Mexican cinema.

Halley
It is the feature film debut of filmmaker Sebastián Hofmann, who would later direct the also macabre 'Time Share'. With 'Halley', the co-writer also gives an interesting contemplative twist to the premise of zombies, through a character that literally exists as a dead man alive. The photography, sound design and makeup (the latter deserving the Ariel Award) emphasize body horror and show us with certain beauty the gradual process of decomposition of the protagonist. In short, it is not a movie that will be enjoyed by everyone (especially those who expect a more traditional approach to zombies), but it cannot be denied that it has a unique approach to existential anxiety.
