Why watch this film?
As a painter and sculptor, Polish artist Stanisław Szukalski was a vital presence on the Chicago art scene, with a particular worldview. Much of his work was lost during World War II in Poland, and interestingly enough his return to the United States made him a good friend of George DiCaprio - who, alongside his famous son Leonardo, is responsible for this original Netflix documentary. This documentary brings Szukalski's experiences and highs and lows, revealing the artist's work to a wider audience.
