Why watch this film?
Director Lars von Trier (of 'Melancholia' and 'Nymphomaniac') presents us with another controversial and shocking film. 'The House That Jack Built' tells the story of a serial killer over a 12 year period, making us enter his head and understand his motivations, his first murders and his evolution as a murderer - in a script inspired by Dante Alighieri's 'Inferno'. All of that gets new layers with Matt Dillon's (of 'Crash: At the Limit') incredible performance in the role of the protagonist. The cast also includes names such as Uma Thurman and Bruno Ganz (who even became a meme with his Hitler from 'The Downfall!'). It's a feature that divides opinions and which is not for everyone, so much so that more than 100 people left the Cannes Film Festival premiere - while those who stayed applauded and cheered for ten minutes after the end of the presentation.
