Why watch this film?

A great national film, starring Pedro Cardoso, Fernanda Torres, Cláudia Abreu, Matheus Nachtergaele, and Alan Arkin, directed by Bruno Barreto - which was an important part of the so-called "Retomada" of Brazilian cinema. Based on the homonymous book by Fernando Gabeira inspired by real facts, ‘O Que É Isso, Companheiro?’ was nominated for the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 1998. Unfortunately, it didn't win the prize, but the recognition was worth it.
