Based on the manga ‘River’s Edge’ by Kyoko Okazaki, this movie was awarded at the Berlin Film Festival in the Panorama section. Theatre: A Love Story
With a style very similar to Haruki Murakami's stories (from '1Q84'), this Japanese dramatic romance is one of those films about meetings and partings, gains and losses, loves and heartbreaks typical of this Asian cinema genre, with a novelistic touch that Brazilians know well. More specifically, the story of 'Gekijo: A Love Story' follows a failed playwright who eventually finds love as his escape from daily suffering. It is not an inventive movie, nor is it memorable compared to other Japanese films of this subgenre. However, fans of stories about love and passion will be able to sigh and, who knows, fall in love with its characters.

In Kidnapped (Rapito), Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio delves into one of the murkiest and most controversial episodes in the history of the Catholic Church, the "Mortara case". In 1851, when Jewish boy Edgardo Mortara becomes gravely ill, his Catholic nanny decides to baptize him in an emergency. However, papal law dictates that all Catholics must be raised as such, so the cardinal orders the boy to be taken and handed over to the church, against his parents' wishes, who decide to fight for him. The film recounts a controversial case that captured the attention of the rest of Europe and America, and skillfully portrays the clash of interests between the waning power of the church, Mortara's parents, and public opinion, with irreversible consequences for all involved.

'Green Border' - In the treacherous and swampy forests that make up the so called “green border” between Belarus and Poland, refugees from the Middle East and Africa trying to reach the European Union are trapped in a geopolitical crisis cynically engineered by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko. In an attempt to provoke Europe, refugees are lured to the border by propaganda promising easy passage to the EU. Pawns in this hidden war, the lives of Julia, a newly minted activist who has given up her comfortable life, Jan, a young border guard, and a Syrian family intertwine.
