The story of Mary Stuart - or Mary Queen of Scots, in textbooks - has been told many times in the movies. After all, she is an iconic monarch who symbolized the beginning of the union between Scotland and England, which would give rise to the United Kingdom. This time, she is played by Saorise Ronan ('Lady Bird'), while Margot Robbie ('I, Tonya') plays her great adversary, Queen Elizabeth I of England. In addition to the historical intrigues, the film has an impeccable period reconstruction, which earned it two Oscar nominations - in the makeup and costume categories.
