Why watch this film?
James Gunn ('Guardians of the Galaxy') is the producer responsible for this new hybrid of horror and science fiction. The premise of 'Brightburn' is, in simplistic terms, as follows: what would happen if Superman had grown up in darkness? Here, director David Yarovesky offers something interesting that ranges from conventional drama to more powerful horror. There is violence and blood, but also a metaphor about the traumatic passage to adolescence, although this psychological exploration is diluted in the second half of the movie.

During the 1980s and 1990s, cinema saw an explosion of young (and even children's, in some cases) stories that mix fantasy elements with horror. 'The Witches' Convention' is one of the most remembered films, but there's still 'Hocus Pocus', 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' and even 'Beetlejuice: The Ghosts Have Fun'. And Netflix seems determined to revive this tradition in the 2020s. One example is the friendly 'Nightbooks'. The feature film follows an obsessed boy with scary stories who ends up trapped in his apartment by a young evil witch. From there, director David Yarovesky ('Brightburn', 'The Hive') mixes 'Home Alone' with 'The Witches' Convention' to show this boy trying to escape the clutches of evil.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 is the unlikely sequel to the feature film that placed the characters of this playful and childlike universe into a world of violence and horror. However, don't expect a production as weak as the previous film: with the success of the first installment at the box office, the production had more money to invest, and thus Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 manages to be more realistic, violent, and impressive compared to the first film. The characters' masks are much scarier, and it ceases to be a complete joke. It's still difficult to take the film entirely seriously, especially with this bizarre premise of Pooh and his friends seeking bloody revenge, but you can already feel more fear and, above all, immerse yourself in the wave of violence that the film promotes. To have fun with friends.
