Why watch this film?
Movies with touching stories about the relationship between humans and their pets have become a subgenre in itself. However, 'The Art of Racing in the Rain' adds some differentials to the formula, portraying the love between race car driver Denny (Milo Ventimiglia, from 'This is Us') and golden retriever Enzo (voiced by Kevin Costner). For fans of motorsport, there are several references - including images of Ayrton Senna's show on the wet track of the 1984 Monaco Grand Prix, revealing the "art of racing in the rain" that is in the original title of the work. For those who love pets, no explanation is needed for all the cuteness and love that exists in the feature film, which will make you cry in several moments. Now, if you like both things, this movie was made for you. Oh, the critics didn't like it much, saying the story was predictable and full of melodrama, but the audience loved it - which is, in the end, what matters most.

Downton Abbey: A New Era
Nothing in life is certain, but we know that 'Downton Abbey: A New Era' is the necessary dose of drama to comfort the hearts of fans of the Crawley family. The feature is the sequel to the 2019 movie and continues the story of the series, a historical drama created by Julian Fellowes. The plot gets a bit denser as we know that one of the characters is ill and the focus of the story is a trip of the Crawleys to France. Edging into the 1930s, the feature shows the impact of the modern world, transporting us to the beginnings of cinema history in a very pleasant and fun way. The only thing that strays a bit from the 'Downton Abbey' atmosphere is the warm climate of the south of France, quite different from England. An extremely ideal production for those who followed the series and the Crawley family.
My Week With Marilyn
Marilyn Monroe is one of the greatest icons in Hollywood history, and many of the films and writings about her life attempt to encompass the entirety of her legend. Thanks to My Week with Marilyn (dramatizing only a brief but turbulent period of her life) being an intimate and powerful drama about Marilyn Monroe's stay in London to film The Prince and the Showgirl alongside Laurence Olivier (portrayed by Kenneth Branagh). The screenplay is based on the books My Week with Marilyn and The Prince, the Showgirl and I by Colin Clark (portrayed onscreen by Eddie Redmayne), who was a production assistant during the troubled shoot. It is a solid drama with great performances (Michelle Williams and Kenneth Branagh were nominated for an Oscar and BAFTA, and she won a Golden Globe for her work), and the story offers the perspective of an outsider on a moment that marked the start of decline for Monroe, both professionally and personally.

In Kidnapped (Rapito), Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio delves into one of the murkiest and most controversial episodes in the history of the Catholic Church, the "Mortara case". In 1851, when Jewish boy Edgardo Mortara becomes gravely ill, his Catholic nanny decides to baptize him in an emergency. However, papal law dictates that all Catholics must be raised as such, so the cardinal orders the boy to be taken and handed over to the church, against his parents' wishes, who decide to fight for him. The film recounts a controversial case that captured the attention of the rest of Europe and America, and skillfully portrays the clash of interests between the waning power of the church, Mortara's parents, and public opinion, with irreversible consequences for all involved.

'Green Border' - In the treacherous and swampy forests that make up the so called “green border” between Belarus and Poland, refugees from the Middle East and Africa trying to reach the European Union are trapped in a geopolitical crisis cynically engineered by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko. In an attempt to provoke Europe, refugees are lured to the border by propaganda promising easy passage to the EU. Pawns in this hidden war, the lives of Julia, a newly minted activist who has given up her comfortable life, Jan, a young border guard, and a Syrian family intertwine.
