Why watch this film?
Making a sequel to one of the greatest horror films of all time wouldn't be easy - but the task gets even harder when we remember that 'The Shining' was directed by none other than Stanley Kubrick. So, 'Doctor Sleep' starts its mission in the best possible place: it faithfully adapts the continuation of the original book, once again written by Stephen King. The end result is a work that expands and deepens questions and events seen in the first movie, as well as presenting an interesting conflict - which can serve as a metaphor for many things in life. After all, who has never known someone who wanted to have the good life while stealing the "light" from others? Or who had a strong shine while young, but let that energy fade away? Ewan McGregor ('Trainspotting') is good in the role of the now adult (and troubled) Danny, while Rebecca Ferguson is a firm and ruthless villain - but who really steals the show is the young Kyliegh Curran. The movie ends up having its slips, mainly when trying to recreate some scenes and elements of the original work, but also has the merit of not resorting to computer graphics to bring faces of people who, in reality, are not in the scene. If it doesn't reach the feet of 'The Shining' and will certainly make its fans frown, this is a worthy horror movie, perhaps the best adaptation of a Stephen King work in a long time.

Although director Mike Flanagan (of 'Doctor Sleep' and 'The Haunting of Hill House') resorts to some formulas and banalities of the genre, 'Hush' hit the mark by creating tension and changing some slasher movie paradigms. Good for having fun and taking some unexpected scares.

From director Gibrán Bazán, pupil of legendary cult filmmaker Juan López Moctezuma (Alucarda), NUDUS is a science fiction thriller that, with few resources, aspires to create the worst conceivable dystopia of our digital age: a world in which everyone's data is accessible to everyone, and for any purpose, after a major global hack. The plot follows a woman (Carla Hernández) who, upon waking up from a prolonged coma, is confronted by a stranger (Álex Crusa) who seems to know everything about her: everything she has written on WhatsApp and Facebook, all the videos she has sent to her contacts, all the humiliating information she has said in private. From this moment on, NUDUS seems more concerned with the mystery of its characters than with the greater background of their situation, so it becomes more about the exploitation of its female protagonist than a reflection on technology and data privacy. However, despite the plot going off the rails, the situation lends itself to exemplifying a catastrophic scenario of these breaches in privacy.
