Why watch this film?

If you like Gothic horror fantasies (in the vein of Guillermo del Toro's "Crimson Peak," for example), then "Los inquilinos" is definitely a movie for you. Beware, it's not a movie that emphasizes horror through graphic violence, but rather through its atmosphere and story: a desolate metaphor about the fate predetermined by the past and the family legacies that we often repeat from one generation to the next. It's a recommendable option if you're looking for something visually and thematically more interesting than a movie that only provokes scares.

Plot summary

1920, rural Ireland. Anglo Irish twins Rachel and Edward share a strange existence in their crumbling family estate. Each night, the property becomes the domain of a sinister presence (The Lodgers) which enforces three rules upon the twins: they must be in bed by midnight; they may not permit an outsider past the threshold; if one attempts to escape, the life of the other is placed in jeopardy.
