Why watch this film?
Directed by Brazilian filmmaker Fernando Meirelles ('City of God') and written by Anthony McCarten ('The Darkest Hour'), 'The Two Popes' is a biopic centered on one of the most important moments for Catholicism in the 21st century - centered on an unlikely meeting: not only the existence of two living popes, but one being conservative and the other more liberal. Highlight for the performances of its two giant protagonists, Anthony Hopkins ('The Silence of the Lambs') and Jonathan Pryce ('The Wife') give this biographical drama a surprising dose of good humor, although it is not the type of movie you want to see if you are looking for a more faithful dramatization of real events. It is certainly one of Netflix's bets for the 2019-2020 awards season.

Blindness
Adapted from an excellent book by José Saramago and directed by Brazilian filmmaker Fernando Meirelles, 'Blindness' managed to do the impossible: bring the intensity of the Portuguese author's literature to the big screen while keeping the audience in an ideal plot for the movies. Credit, mainly, to Meirelles, who knew how to create the atmosphere, gave a serious dystopian air and orchestrated the excellent cast with Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo. The great point in favor is also that 'Blindness' maintained the various interpretations that the book brings. It can be simply an epidemic that causes blindness, it can be a political criticism or it can even be a vision of the social chaos that the world lives in. It doesn't matter. Any of the readings make the movie quite special.

His parents’ struggle to free their son became part of a larger political battle that pitted the papacy against forces of democracy and Italian unification.
Green Border
'Green Border' - In the treacherous and swampy forests that make up the so called “green border” between Belarus and Poland, refugees from the Middle East and Africa trying to reach the European Union are trapped in a geopolitical crisis cynically engineered by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko. In an attempt to provoke Europe, refugees are lured to the border by propaganda promising easy passage to the EU. Pawns in this hidden war, the lives of Julia, a newly minted activist who has given up her comfortable life, Jan, a young border guard, and a Syrian family intertwine.
