Why watch this film?

Hundreds of big, prestigious sporting events capture the eyes and attention of the public year after year, and the protagonists are always the same: athletes striving to achieve some admirable feat of sport, like the Tour de France in this case. In just seventy minutes, 'La Grand-Messe' directs our eyes to another aspect of the sporting event often overlooked: the contemporary pilgrims who, for years and even decades, travel to the event's location to camp and enjoy the scenery and lifestyle. This small documentary is a little sample, a glimpse into the everyday life full of humor and tender moments, with no grand pretensions of showing us a curious and unknown side of life in France.
