Why watch this film?

Written by eight hands along with screenwriters like Yibrán Asuad ("All the Freckles in the World"), among others, filmmaker Humberto Hinojosa Ozcariz ("Path to Mars") delivers in "Un papá pirata" a dramatic comedy with a theme rarely tackled head-on in national cinema: father abandonment, the true meaning of paternity, and, in general, family ties beyond blood relatives. Even if it can feel repetitive at times, it's a movie that moves thanks to elements such as its soundtrack and performances, particularly those of Miguel Rodarte ("Perfect Strangers"), Andrés Almeida ("Time Share") and star Luis de la Rosa ("While the Wolf Is Away"). There are also very funny cameos that those who grew up with Mexican television in the 90s will enjoy.
