Why watch this film?

If there were to be a tour of the highlights of all Latin American cinema, 'Whisky' would undoubtedly be a must-stop. It is a very peculiar Uruguayan tragicomedy about desperation trapped in the stupor of routine, told with few but very precise shots, actions and dialogues, wonderfully interpreted by its trio of protagonists. The film won several of the main film awards on its journey around the world, including the Un Certain Regard Award and the International Federation of Film Critics Prize, both at the Cannes Festival; the Ariel for best Latin American feature; the Mayahuel Award for Best Actress (Mirella Pascual) at the Guadalajara International Film Festival; and the Goya Award for Best Foreign Language Film in Spanish, among many others.
