Why watch this film?

One of the most interesting Japanese animation names to be released by Studio Ghibli was Hiromasa Yonebayashi, who debuted as director in 'Kari-gurashi no Arietti', a beautiful and modest animated fantasy based on Mary Norton's book 'The Borrowers', translated into the Japanese context. The story is straightforward and aimed at younger audiences (unlike other studio productions), but it is still a beautiful adventure that conveys a great sense of wonder in its small big world.
