Why watch this film?
One of the great (and most controversial) films in the James Bond 007 franchise. After all, the movie is based on the book 'Thunderball' - which, in turn, was written from elements of an unused screenplay by Kevin McClory. After a legal dispute, Eon managed to get the rights to the story with McClory and released the movie that introduces the most famous villain of the secret agent: Ernst Stavro Blofeld, with his face never revealed, the white cat in his lap and the aesthetics that became the villain cliché in cinemas. It is also here that the franchise begins to appeal to more spectacular situations, gadgets out of reality and much more - something that would be further deepened in the following feature films. A mixture of melodrama, action and espionage at the right point, in a portrait of the culture of the late 1960s.

Dr. No
After the success of Ian Fleming's books, former Royal Navy officer Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman joined forces to create EON Productions and make movies based on the character James Bond. They struck a deal with United Artists for distribution and the movie was mostly shot in Jamaica, where Fleming liked to spend his holidays writing books. Scotsman Sean Connery was chosen for the lead role, who would become iconic as the character. However, production was quite troubled, missing deadlines and going over budget, while the final result was not well received by critics at the time. What matters is that the audience loved 'Dr. No', be it for the action scenes, aesthetics, rhythm or Bond's charm. Today, the movie is considered a classic (albeit a bit dull for the younger ones) and laid the foundations for the longest-running franchise in the seventh art.
From Russia With Love
After the box office success of the inaugural James Bond franchise film, Eon Productions invested much more in a sequel and an annual production model for the character. 'From Russia With Love' arrives in this climate, expanding the action sequences and taking the secret agent even closer to the Cold War atmosphere of those times. The story also has the merit of citing for the first time in cinema the Soviet organization SMERSH (the main antagonist of the 007 books) and introduces SPECTRE, which would gain even greater prominence in the following films. Another novelty, which would become the hallmark of the series, is the arrival of John Barry as the main composer - and the introduction of a musical opening, accompanied by the song 'From Russia With Love', sung by Matt Monro. The script may seem a bit innocent to those accustomed to current films, but it's good fun.

With Blue Dragon Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress (Seo Eun-su) and Best New Actress (Cynthia), this film captures the protagonist's intense battle to find answers and justice, facing not only her persecutors, but also to his own inner demons.
Bloodsport
Jean-Claude Van Damme makes his starring debut in the descriptively titled Bloodsport. An American soldier at large in Hong Kong, Van Damme becomes involved in the Kumite, a highly illegal kickboxing competition. Whoever survives the bout will be crowned Kumite champion of the world…a title that has plenty of challengers with homicide in their hearts. The finale offers a duel to the death between Van Damme and reigning Kumite king Bolo Yeung. The script is based on the real-life exploits of martial arts champ Frank Dux, who serves as the film's fight coordinator.

The Order
In The Order, Van Damme plays a man accused of murder who seeks a sacred scripture in Jerusalem before it falls into the wrong hands, jeopardizing his freedom. With shades of Dan Brown and a script by Jean Claude Van Damme himself, alongside Les Weldon (screenwriter of another action star film, Replicant), the movie is what every fan of the Belgian actor wants: brawling, with a fun plot, and never boring.
