Why watch this film?
The Japanese light novel series 'Violet Evergarden', written by Kana Akatsuki and illustrated by Akiko Takase, has been adapted into a successful anime TV show of the shōjo (for young women) subgenre, which in turn has given rise to this movie. With superb animation from the Kyoto Animation studio, 'Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll' tells a story full of love and nostalgia that, although it is chronologically set at the end of the anime series, does not require having seen it all to understand and be moved by it. A very good animated option if you are looking for something a bit sappy.
