Why watch this film?

When we talk about gastronomy, often the first thing that comes to mind is gourmet food, luxurious restaurants whose kitchens are run by internationally renowned chefs. 'Mesa para todos' (Table for Everyone) is a documentary that subverts this perception and presents us with the concept of social gastronomy through the project of Italian chef Massimo Bottura and Brazilian chef David Hertz, who propose that the first step for true social transformation is to reduce food waste, to promote healthy, accessible and dignified nutrition for the most vulnerable sectors of the population.

Plot summary

What if food waste could be gourmet meals feeding social vulnerable people? Visionary chef Massimo Bottura brings together other renowed chefs, such as Joan Roca, Alain Ducasse, Alejandro de la Peña and Virgilio Martinez to unveil that tons of food destined for the dumpster in a Olympic Village could be ingredients far deeper, feeding people with heart, soul and social dignity in his new soup kitchen Reffetorio Gastromotiva at Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
