Why watch this film?
Walking in a more literal sense of "passionate crime", the feature film 'Mrs. Serial Killer' surprises by showing the story of a wife who takes the risk of killing people to free her husband from prison -- a crazy story, worthy of the Argentinian movie 'Wild Tales'. However, Indian director Shirish Kunder (of the strange 'Joker') does not embrace comedy and the bizarre, as it seems at first, and develops a tense action and suspense thriller from start to finish. Bringing typical Indian settings, the movie surprises by putting the Indian woman -- usually submissive -- in a strong and proactive role, modulating the characters in different and unusual situations, reminiscent of the recent movie 'The Justice', starring Jennifer Garner. Thus, 'Mrs. Serial Killer' can be a good gateway to Bollywood cinema, which has been gaining more and more strength and prominence, including on Netflix's streaming service.

Kidnapped
In Kidnapped (Rapito), Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio delves into one of the murkiest and most controversial episodes in the history of the Catholic Church, the "Mortara case". In 1851, when Jewish boy Edgardo Mortara becomes gravely ill, his Catholic nanny decides to baptize him in an emergency. However, papal law dictates that all Catholics must be raised as such, so the cardinal orders the boy to be taken and handed over to the church, against his parents' wishes, who decide to fight for him. The film recounts a controversial case that captured the attention of the rest of Europe and America, and skillfully portrays the clash of interests between the waning power of the church, Mortara's parents, and public opinion, with irreversible consequences for all involved.
