Why watch this film?

Jean-Claude Van Damme, unlike his action movie peers from the 1980s, has not found a niche in cinema. Over the past few years, he has appeared in some dramas ('Lukas') and action films ('The Yugoslav Avenger' and 'Black Water'), but without finding a safe harbor. Now, he makes a quick but intense appearance in 'We Die Young', the first fiction film of filmmaker Lior Geller, with experience in TV and documentaries. A mix of '7 Boxes', 'Win or Die' and 'Les Miserables' (the 2020 French version), the feature film shows the life of two boys in the suburbs of Washington, USA. Desperation is the keyword. But Van Damme, of course, will put some more sense into it. You almost miss the actor, who has been missing from the screens. But there is a taste of wanting more, since the film is much more focused on the boys and the hustle and bustle of the American capital's streets.
