Why watch this film?

At first glance it seems like a "coming of age" movie in the vein of Clueless or Heathers, The Craft adds dark humor and witchcraft to the formula, with a feminist message as the cherry on top. It must be said that its special effects have not aged particularly well and, despite its modest box office success at the time, it eventually ended up being overshadowed by movies like Mean Girls in the collective imagination. However, all this is part of its quirky charm, which has currently earned it its classic cult status. This movie also launched or consolidated the careers of its protagonists with different levels of success, from Robin Tunney (The Mentalist, Vertical Limit), to Fairuza Balk (American History X) and Neve Campbell (Scream).
