De acá a la China

An Argentine grocer sets out to open the first Argentine supermarket in China.

Why watch this film?

This Argentine comedy has an absurd, but very funny premise: the owner of a grocery store in Argentina, tired of seeing Chinese people stealing his customers, decides to pack his bags and go to China. The goal? To open an Argentine market in the Oriental country. From there, debut director Federico Marcello tries to untangle what could result in a xenophobic plot, and plays with stereotypes, geographical barriers, and mainly with the transformation of the main character. In some points, it ends up reminding of the excellent 'A Chinese Tale', with Ricardo Darín, which shows that contact with a supposed different one can bring more benefits and transformations than it seems.
