Why watch this film?
In 1973, a bank robbery in Stockholm caught the attention of psychology. The reason? The victims created bonds with the robbers and turned against the authorities. From then on, researchers began to study the phenomenon and dubbed it "Stockholm Syndrome" - when victims develop some kind of sympathy or attraction for their tormentors. Now, in the feature film 'Stockholm', filmmaker Robert Budreau repeats his partnership with Ethan Hawke (both from 'Chet Baker: The Jazz Legend') to dive into this story and show the origin of the syndrome. Although it fails to delve into theories of psychology and human psyche, the feature film is happy to show the absurd events of the bank robbery and show how the human being, sometimes, surprises by its complexity.
